AN INNOVATIVE PARK

Over the past 25 years Experiencias Xcaret has put value into authentic natural beauties of Quintana Roo, to turn them into successful tourist products. Thus arose Xcaret, Xel-Há, Xplor, Xplor Fuego and Xenotes Tour, which are located at majestic sites and which together receive annually more than two and a half million visitors.

However, the most recent attraction of the group is a totally new concept, since it arises from a deteriorated property after several years of operating as a “sascab” mine, a venue for the extraction of construction materials, which after completing its purpose, came to be used as a garbage dump.

And as such, the company took advantage of the already formed channels for the operation of the old mine to create a navigable circuit, making use of the geological setting of the area. The water table is extremely accessible and underground rivers allow good flow, which circulates and is constantly renewing itself. To restore the damaged vegetation, they have planted 250,000 native plants, which include timber such as cedar and mahogany, as well as palms like thatch and the guano tree, most of them from the nurseries of Experiencias Xcaret.

It has a formal program of solid waste management in which the separation is a priority, to channel the highest possible percentage for recycling and a fraction to the landfill. According to EarthCheck, the most renowned seal of sustainability worldwide, Experiencias Xcaret recover on average 75% of the waste generated in its parks, while the world average in tourism enterprises is 50% recovery.

Xoximilco Cancún is a beautiful set of canals that is toured at night on cheerful and picturesque gondolas, offering the visitor an original and fun way of passing time with friends and family, as well as offering more than 20 culinary delights of Mexico, always accompanied by mariachi and different sets of traditional live music, at an authentic Mexican fiesta. Located 5 minutes from Cancun International Airport and 35 minutes from Playa del Carmen, on km 338 of the Cancun-Chetumal highway.
